CATEGORYNitrogen fertilizers

TRADE NAME:
Salmag® with boron (calcium ammonium nitrate with boron, CAN+B), granulated

CHEMICAL NAME:
Mixture of ammonium nitrate with boric acid, calcium carbonate and magnessium carbonate

CHEMICAL SYMBOL:
NH4NO3 + CaCO3 * MgCO3 + H3BO3

USES:

This is a nitrogen fertilizer supplying nutritive elements (N as NH4+ and NO3-, Ca as CaSO4). It is suitable for blending with other granulated fertilizers.

DESCRIPTION:
A recognised nitrogen fertiliser with boron. Easily soluble in water, acts fast and does not acidify the soil. All ingredients of the fertiliser are easily absorbed by the plants. Granules are characterised by extreme mechanical strength, hardness as well as uniform chemical composition and grain size, which ensures even distribution of the fertiliser, similarly to Salmag®. It can be applied on all soils, except for soils rich in boron.o It is intended fr basic nitrogen fertilisation in the case of plants sensitive to boron deficiency, including the following: beets, rape, sunflower, lucerne, clover, potatoes, tobacco, flax, tomatoes, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, bean, celery and fruit trees. It can be blended with other granulated fertilisers. Salmag® with boron forms loose granules, beige to brown, depending on the colour of the filler employed.
  • Salmag® with boron forms loose white or grey granules, depending on the colour of the filler employed.
  • Under recommended conditions of storage and transportation, quality specification is guaranteed over the period of 9 months from the date of the production.
  • The fertilizer contains an anti-caking agent.
  • Salmag® with boron is not reckoned among hazardous materials according to RID/ADR regulations.
INTENDED USE AND APPLICATION:
  • soils containing small amounts of boron or soils where boron is less accessible to plants,
  • plants sensitive to boron deficiency, including the following: beets, rape, sunflower, lucerne, potatoes, tobacco, flax, tomatoes, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, bean, celery, fruit trees,
  • before sowing,
  • for top dressing (in the case of alkaline soils it is recommended to mix the fertiliser with soil),

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BORON:
Boron is a micronutrient which is necessary for normal growth and development of plants and for their resistance to diseases and pests. It participates in carbohydrate metabolism, synthesis of proteins, nucleic acids and pectins; in the process of nitrogen fixation it affects permeability of cell walls, as well as the growth and development of reproductive organs. It is particularly important for normal development of plants at the most intensive growth stage. Boron plays an important role in cell division. It is also necessary for correct translocation of sugars in plants. It is a key element in sugar beet, rape, sunflower, potato, tobacco, flax, tomato, cabbage, carrot, bean and celery growing and in fruit tree orchards.

ADVANTAGES OF SALMAG® WITH BORON:
  • It is a valuable source of nitrogen (27.5%) in the form of fast-release nitrate (13.7%) and slow-release ammonium (13.8%), which ensure the optimum development conditions.
  • Salmag® with boron is particularly recommended for plants sensitive to boron deficiency, soils containing small amounts of boron or soils where boron is less accessible to plants (light soils).
  • It contains boron (0.20%), calcium (3.5% CaO) and magnesium (4% MgO).
  • All nutrients contained in Salmag® with boron are easily absorbed by the plants.
  • The structure of granules protects nitrogen from being leached out too soon and thus against nitrogen losses.
  • Granules are very strong and hard, therefore:
    • the fertiliser does not cake and does not crumble, it is resistant to abrasion during transport and storage;
    • it can be applied (spread) over long distances (up to 40 m*), reduces the number of runs across the field and thus reduces the costs of farming.
  • Thanks to a high degree of uniformity of granules (granule class: 92% of 2-5 mm granules):
    • even spreading is guaranteed, regardless of spreading technique, which ensures stable quality of the yield;
    • the fertiliser can be blended with other granulated fertilisers, thus making it possible to fully fertilise the soil in one application.
  • Each granule is covered by an anti-caking agent, which ensures flowability and prevents caking.
  • Favourably affects soil pH and ensures favourable development conditions for soil microorganisms required by plants.
  • The product meets all required safety criteria.
  • Its efficiency was tested on experimental fields.
* Tests carried out by one of the leading European manufacturers of fertiliser spreaders, the Bogballe Company, demonstrated that Salmag® with boron can be successfully applied over a distance of up to 40 m, which makes this fertiliser a unique product on the European market.
